Part Three:
Unearthly Beauty
We arrive at the fair and meet up with the young ballerinas at the exhibition tent.
I'm frantically juggling a videocamera and my camera, trying to catch every shot.
Meredith goes up on the stage for a rehearsal and I catch her in the viewfinder.
"You know," I say privately to Roger, "her beauty is almost unearthly." He pats my hand fondly.
All of a sudden I realize that, in the confusion of trying to photograph and video everything, my voice has carried.
Five rows of grinning parents swing around and stare at me. A few snicker quietly.
It won't be the last time this happens.
