But hey! Life is not all bleak. Somebody, and I'm not naming any names here, is in Love. Somebody chatted with her boyfriend for 30 minutes last night and informed me that it was the "greatest thirty minutes of her life." And asked me if it was ok if he was allowed to kiss her on the cheek. I said ok. Then she informed her father that "Mom said it was ok if Boyfriend kisses me on the cheek, and if you disagree, well, it will have to be divorce time."
Hmm. Listen here, little missy, I happen to be in love also. And if your Dad can't handle an innocent expression of young love, well, I might have to torture him a little, but I don't plan to divorce him. So just get that thought right out of your mind.

how old is this child that is not only dating, but being kissed by said boyfriend - with permission (!!?!!) from her parents?
It might seem like an an innocent expression of young love to you now, but wait till she comes to you asking you if abortion or adoption is ok too!
She isn't "dating". She visits his house, which is 5 houses away, WITH HER SISTER and plays with him AND HIS EIGHT YEAR OLD SISTER. Brother and sister visit our house and play either in the family den or outside. Nobody is allowed to be alone at any time. Our rule is no boys in the bedroom EVER, even at this age. Might as well start this rule now, for it will continue until she moves into a dorm!! They are supervised by adults at all times. Group play dates. That's all.
As for the snaggletooth, yeah indeedy she has inherited her mother's buck teeth even though she was born halfway across the world. She has already visited the orthodontist and every dime that I make off this blog ($27.50 so far from Blogher!)... but I hope for more eventually..goes into a fund for her braces. The ortho wants more of her teeth to grow in before any action is taken. He says that she will be getting braces in about 2 years.

As a former snaggletooth myself, I have to applaud the child for having such a rewarding social life. And to the anonymous person above, I'm sorry to hear that no one ever taught you about basic biology. While I don't feel it's my job to educate you in this area, I will go so far as to say that it is physically impossible to get pregnant from a kiss on the cheek. Feel better now?
I'm here via VA, but I've been here (a lot) before and I'll trade you one snaggletooth for one serious under-bite/small jaw. F*cking orthodontist - on his way to Bali as we speak - glad I could provide that for him!
