Why Don't I Just Hand Over The Whole Freaking Paycheck?
Aww...thanks all. GROUP HUG!!!! I lurve each and every one of you darlin' folks, except for the troll who keeps telling me that I'm as "bad as Dooce." I just don't have anything to say to that except that I wish I was as RICH as Dooce. But poverty makes me noble. I'm very, very noble.
We shall speak of teeth no more on this blog, or I'll have to change the name to Dental Discussions or something, but co-ink-a-dent-ly the girls had their 6 month checkups today. Right now I must kneel and thank the Big Guy for my premonition.
See, it all started back in October. For employees of the Great State Of South Carolina Who Might I Remind You went for Obama? So, see, we're not all secret KKK members down here..but I digress. (mind wanders off, skips through some tulips, gazes at a cloud formation....) Well, October is Benefits Month. Every 2 years you get the opportunity to sign up for some extra-special Tooth Insurance called Dental Plus which I keep referring to as Super Dental which for some reason irritates the holy living heck out of my husband, who really ought not to be so crabby about such minor details, seeing as how he's married to such a paragon and all (mind once again begins a meandering journey and gets yanked back by sheer willpower). You can only sign up in October and the benefits start in January.
Last September I had a conversation with myself that went something like this:
Self: My you are wonderful.
Me: Thank you. I think you're pretty great too.
Self: It's the Greatest Love Of All, isn't it? And it's happening to me.....
Me: (Looks in mirror, kisses image) Mwah!!
Self: There's something I've been meaning to bring up.
Me: Yes, you fabulous creature? What can I do for you?
Self: Hasn't it been a long time since you heard Roger mention that he had visited the dentist?
Me: Why yes, it has. He might have a lot of work to do. Better get him there before October is up in case he needs to sign up for the Super Dental Plus insurance which is a very cute name for it and I think you're a saint with putting up with such a forgetful and crabby husband. He does make good waffles though.
Self: Maybe you had better check into this.
Me: Right on.
"ring"
Me: Hi, this is Lorrie. I'd like to make my husband a dental appointment.
Stern Dental Receptionist: If he has any left. His last appointment was in 2004.
Me: (voice rising to level that only dogs can hear) TWO THOUSAND AND FOUR?
SDR: Yes. We will have to do a complete evaluation, starting as if he was a new patient.
Me: Thank you.
SDR: What a wonderful wife you are. He doesn't deserve you.
Me: Thank you. I agree.
So Roger goes in, copious x-rays are done, then somber dentists gather around him to explain that "massive work needs to be done." Roger is directed by moi to sign up for Super Dental, which covers the expense of "massive work" much better than the regular plan. He has the kids on his plan too, so they're added by default to Super Dental. Roger got the Massive Work done in January which involved such ominious words as "extreme decay" "Stage 6 rot" "invasive perioscaling" and "Boy! What a moron you are!" (the last words uttered by yours truly under my breath as I do want This Marriage To Be Saved).
Today the dentist told Roger that Meredith, whose straight and gleaming white baby teeth could win prizes, is ALSO going to need Massive Dental Work. Two baby molars need to be pulled posthaste because her permanent molars are trying to push every one of her permanent teeth out of place. She will also have to wear headgear for up to a year, starting sometime in 2009 to pull her permanent molars back into position. Madeleine's teeth are fine. Talk about shock!!
Glad we have Super Dental!! (shameless begging ahead) And if it's not too much trouble to click an ad or two....
